Background:

MOGUL MOM Business Boot Camp & MOGUL MOM™ Business Certification designed exclusively for Single Moms in Business.  This is a partnership effort of The Home-Based Chamber of Commerce, Successful Single Moms, National College and Innovation Church. Ownership by women means the business is at least 51% owned by a Single Mom or group of women.  In the case of a publicly-owned business, at least 51st of the stock is owned by one or more women.  Further, the management and daily operations are controlled by those women.

 

 

• Fifty-one percent (51%) established ownership by a Single Mom or a group of women.

• Evidence of proof of 51% majority control and effective management of the business as evidence by the governing documents such as by-laws, hire-fire authority and other decision-making roles.

• Ownership of women must establish their expertise in area they are seeking certification.

• Percentage of ownership equity and capitalization is commensurate with ownership percentage.

• Control of the business as evidenced by signature role on debt or financial instruments, legally binding documents such as leases and contracts.

•  Must be a U.S. Citizen or be a legal resident.

•  Must obtain membership with one of the following:  Home Based Business Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Chamber of Commerce, NAWBO or Memphis Chamber of Commerce.​

Program Description:

The MOGUL MOM Business Boot Camp is a 6-week course, one night a week for two hours that will walk you through all of the steps necessary to open, own and operate a successful business. In the MOGUL MOM Business Boot Camp course, single mothers are taught how to properly operate with clarity, marketing, and branding their business.

Rationale for Program:

According to BizzyMomsT, the statistics of single mothers are alarming with approximately 13.6 million single parents out of which 84% are single mothers, and they have 21.2 million children. Within that percentage, 72% of the households in Memphis, TN are headed by single mothers; in which significant amount of that percentage is affected by the poverty and low income jobs. MOGUL MOM Business Boot Camp is a central element in helping the lives of single mothers.
